Photoelectric Smoke Alarm

Photoelectric Smoke Alarms consist of a light emitting

diode and a light sensitive sensor. The presence of

suspended smoke particles in the chamber scatters

the light, which is detected, setting off the alarm.

Photoelectric technology is superior to ionisation

technology in detecting the visible smoke produced

by smouldering ﬁ res, which most commonly occur in

homes.
